Tzoler Oukayan was named Dean of Student Affairs subject to approval by the Board of Trustees at the May 21, 2019 meeting. 

A true Glendale Community College success story, Tzoler initially came to GCC in 2001 as a first-generation college student from a single-parent, immigrant family.  Active in campus activities and leadership throughout her student experience, Tzoler served as Vice President of Campus Relations for the Associated Students of Glendale Community College (ASGCC) and ASGCC Senator of Campus Relations.  In recognition of her outstanding contributions to our college community, Tzoler received the GCC Board of Trustees Leadership Award and was named GCC’s Woman of the Year in 2004.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA, Tzoler returned to GCC to work as our full-time Student Activities Coordinator.  For the next eight years she advised our student government officers and club members, coordinated a comprehensive campus activities program, and developed leadership training and development initiatives for student leaders.  She also assumed leadership roles on campus as an executive officer for the California School Employees Association (CSEA), and on the statewide level as a member of the California Community College Student Affairs Association (CCCSAA) board of directors.  Along the way she completed her Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree at the University of Southern California.

In 2015 Tzoler became our Program Manager for Student Outreach Services (SOS).  Under her leadership the SOS team greatly increased its services to area high schools and the community, opened the GCC Welcome Center, expanded the Dual Enrollment Program for concurrently enrolled high school students, and initiated the Early College Academy at Hoover High School in partnership with the Glendale Unified School District.
