2011 baseball alum Ryan Sherriff called up to Cardinals

Former GCC baseball alumni Ryan Sherriff was called up to the Major Leagues by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday August 23, 2017. Sherriff was a first-team All-Western State Conference Southern Division player for the Vaqs that season as Glendale won the WSC Title, the Southern California Regionals and advanced to the final four of the state championships.

Sherriff was drafted by the Cardinals in the 28th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft and has steadily made his way to the majors as a left handed relief pitcher after starting his minor league career as a starter. He was 5-1 with a 3.19 ERA with Triple-A Memphis and had 47 strikeouts in 53.2 innings pitched.
