Jacob Gribbin pounds out six hits in wins over Victor Valley and Barstow
Sophomore Jacob Gribbin pounded out six hits including four doubles at the GCC Baseball team opened up Western State Conference play with a pair of home wins this week, 13-2 over Victor Valley March 8 and 16-5 over Barstow Friday at Stengel Field. Glendale is now 2-0 in WSC play and 13-9 overall.
 
Glendale scattered 14 hits in the Antelope Valley win in support of starting pitcher Chris Davidson who struck out seven and allowed just three hits in his six innings of work. Gribbin led the hit parade with three hist, all doubles, and had two RBI and scored once. Tom Tabak also had three hits as well as scoring and driving in two runs and stealing a base. Jake Selco also had three hits including two doubles, scored two runs and stole a base.
 
The Vaqs pounded out 17 hits in the win over Barstow Friday with Gribbin and Thad Wilson getting three hits each and Luckas Sakay, Sean Kretz and Grant Mona chipping in with two hits each. Grant Mona homered, Brandon Lewis had a runs scoring triple and three RBiI and Tabak also had three RBI and scored three times. Starter Jason Whally got the win and struck out five and allowed five hits.
 
Glendale continues WSC play this week with games at Antelope Valley Tuesday March 13 at 2:30, home Thursday March 15 against Canyons at 2:30 and at Citrus March 17 at 1 pm.
