GCC clinches tie for WSC East title with 5-4 win over Citrus in 11 innings

 
It took 11 innings and four hours of play but Glendale College at least claimed a share of the WSC East Title Thursday with a hard fought 5-4 win over Citrus College Thursday April 26 at Stengel Field.  Freshman Tom Tabak drove home Thad Wilson with the winning run as GCC improved to 16-3 in conference and 27-12 overall.
 
Wilson and Jacob Gribbin paced Glendale with four hits each and Grant Mona and Tabak had two hits each. Anthony Robles earned the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and striking out three. 
 
The share of the conference title was GCC's sixth since 2011.Glendale ends the regular season at Citrus Friday April 27 at 2:30 pm and a victory Friday would give the Vaqs the outright WSC East Title.
 
The WSC East champion would likely host an opening round Southern California Regional Playoff Series Friday and Saturday May 4-5 with the second place team likely starting the playoffs on the road. The seeding meeting will take place Sunday April 28.
