Chris Davidson Gets a Complete Game Win and a Save Over PCC; GCC Faces Mt. SAC Next in Playoffs

Chris Davidson wanted the ball, and Glendale gave it to him in a pair of GCC Southern California Regional Playoff wins Saturday, May 5, at Stengel Field.  The Vaqs beat the Lancers from Pasadena, 9-4 and 18-11, to advance to the Southern California Super Regionals, May 11-13, at Mt. SAC against the host Mounties.  Mt. SAC is ranked #4 in the playoffs, and GCC is ranked #5.

As if Davidson's performance wasn't enough, Glendale rallied from an 11-5 deficit in Game 3 to score 13 runs in the 8th inning to help seal the come-from-behind win.  Davidson asked for the chance to get the save against four batters in the 9th inning to preserve the Glendale win.

After being limited to seven hits in a 3-2 loss Friday against PCC, Glendale erupted for 34 hits and 27 runs in the two games Saturday to improve its record to 30-13 on the season.  Glendale and Mt. SAC will play single games on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12, in the best two out of three series, with the game times still to be determined.  A third game Sunday, May 13, will be played if necessary.
