Midway through the second quarter, sophomore running back Elijah Washington slid off left tackle to score Glendale's first touchdown of the game to give the Vaqs a 7-0 lead and GCC would trail its crosstown rivals from Pasadena just 8-7 heading into halftime.

But that would be the only bright spot of the game for the Vaqs as the home town poured it on in the second half to come away with a 35-7 win over Glendale to improve to 2-0 this season while GCC dropped to 0-2.

Glendale could not get untracked offensively as they managed just 211 yards of total offense and quarterbacks Nathan Eldridge and Jorge Amaya could only complete passes for small chunks of yardage while they cloud not do much better on the ground as Elijah Washington was the leading rusher with 36 yards on 14 carries and one score.

The defensive effort was the one bright spot for the Vaqs before halftime as they continually put the Lancers on their heels before giving up the go ahead score before halftime and then giving up 27 unanswered points in the final two quarters. Michael Stanford led the defensive charge with 14 tackles, eight solo.

GCC continues non-conference play Saturday Sept. 21 as they play at Moorpark at 6 pm.
