Riding the wave of a two game winning streak, the GCC Vaqueros fell behind 14-6 in the first quarter and couldn't catch up as they fell to visiting Santa Ana 63-34 in a American Division Metro league game Saturday at Sartoris Field.

As it was sophomore day, it was the play of those players who led the way statistically for the Vaqs as Jorge Amaya passed for 148 yards on 9 of 12 including a 68 yard touchdown pass to Jalen Lawrence to cut the lead to 35-19 in the third quarter. Lawrence finished the day with nine catches for 164 yards and two scores. Elijah Washington was the leading rusher for GCC with 62 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns.

Now 2-7 overall and 2-3 in Metro League play, GCC finishes up the 2019 season at L.A. Southwest College Saturday Nov. 16 at 6 p
