Glendale Community College (GCC) has hired former GCC football player and assistant coach Tanner Farwell as the Interim Head Football Coach for the Vaqueros. Farwell, 29, was an offensive lineman for the Vaqs in 2009-10 and an assistant coach in 2013-14 under recently retired head coach John Rome, and helped GCC advance to the Patriotic Bowl in 2014.

While in college, Farwell continued his playing career at Southern Oregon University in 2011-12. He began his coaching career the following year at SOU (2012-13) before returning to California to coach at GCC for one year. From 2015-2017, he was the offensive line coach, co-offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Los Angeles Valley College and helped the Monarchs win the Golden State Bowl Championship in 2015 and the Pacific Conference Championship and American Division Bowl Championship in 2016.

Since 2017, Coach Farwell has held a variety of roles at Citrus College including offensive line and tight ends coach, recruiting coordinator, offensive coordinator and associate head coach. By returning to Glendale, Farwell becomes GCC's fourth head football coach since 1972 following Jim Sartoris (1972-88), John Cicuto (1989-2007) and John Rome (2008-19.)

"Glendale College is my extended family. Having grown up in this community it is a tremendous honor to be named the Interim Head Football Coach of the Vaqueros. I could not be more excited for this opportunity to lead this football program that has had such a rich tradition of success from the Sartoris, Cicuto and Rome eras," said Farwell.

Coach Farwell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education from Southern Oregon University and a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central Missouri.
