GCC Football wins third straight game to improve to 4-1, 42-7 over College of the Desert Oct. 12
The heat wave that postponed the Sept. 7 football game against College of the Desert came back in the form of a one-sided performance by the GCC Football Team as it defeated COD 42-7 Saturday Oct. 12. The win was the third straight for the Vaqueros as they improved to 4-1 this season.
 
Glendale came away with a balanced effort statistically as they rolled up 400 yards of total offense, 211 yards on the ground and 189 yards through the air. Freshman quarterback Jackson Askins passed for three touchdowns on 14 completions in 23 attempts for 171 yards with Jason Sanford III catching five balls for 59 yards and one TD and Shade Schaefer caught six passes for 56 yards and a score and Noah Gomez caught one pass for a 10-yard score. Alonzo Fuentes-Gutierrez led the running game with 72 yards on 12 carries and Jaden Saturn Forster, Zavontae Flournoy-Trice and Andranik Saryan all had rushing touchdowns and kicker Alejandro Peyeyra made all six of his extra point attempts.
 
Defensively, the Vaqs pressure was evident throughout the game as Elijah Gipson, Brooklyn Pasten, Isaac Robinson and Colin Farhberger all had interceptions. Robinson was the leading tackler with nine, Pasten had seven, Gipson had six and four pass breakups and Michael Balian, Colin Farhberger and Dario Sandoval all had five tackles.
 
Glendale opens up Pacific League play on the road on Saturday Oct. 19 at 10 am at L.A. Pierce College.
