Vaqueros come up big on sophomore night in 82-78 win over Antelope Valley

On a night when six GCC sophomores play their last home game in the Verdugo Gym, the Vaqueros had five players score in double figures in a 82-78 win over Antelope Valley College Saturday. Glendale finished the season 5-5 in the WSC East and 12-15 overall.
 
Glendale reeled off seven straight points at 63-61 to lead 70-61 with just minutes left on the clock before AV battled back to trail just 76-74. But a three point play by GCC leading scorer Serigne Athj kept the Vaqs ahead and gave them the final margin ov victory.

Athj led Glendale with 18 points. Derek Lockman and Dominick Gully had 13 each, Frank Irowa had 11 and Jordan Matthews had 10 to pace GCC. Steven Hubbell led the Vaqs with eight rebounds and Matthews had seven.
 
The sophomore players honored before the game were Gully, Matthews, Chris Daniels, Athj, Richard Hollinger and Irowa.
