GCC Men's Basketball wins Consolation Title in Antelope Valley Tourney; Improves to 7-5

The third game was the charm for the GCC Men's Basketball Team Sunday in the Antelope Valley College Tourney and the result was a 68-62 victory over Rio Hondo College to win the Consolation Championship. Glendale fell to Ventura College 92-62 in a first-round game Friday and beat the University of Antelope Vally JV squad 88-60 Saturday.

In winning two out of three games over the weekend, the Vaqs improved to 7-5 and were led by all-tournament selection Christian Finney who had 12 points and 15 rebounds in the win over Rio Hondo with his brother Joel Finney chipping in with 14 points. Julian Dixon had 10 points and four rebounds and Joshua Lee added eight points in a game where GCC led 37-34 at the half.

Christian Finney was also the leading scorer in Glendale's win Saturday over the University of Antelope Valley Junior Varsity with 18 points and 14 rebounds, five on the offensive glass. Julian Dixon came off the bench to add 17 points and hit three, 3-pointers.

GCC plays its first home game of the season Friday in the Verdugo Gym against El Camino College at 5 pm. No fans are allowed to attend this game.
