Three assists by Jafet Perez; two goals by Ricky Morales pace GCC to 3-1 win over Imperial Valley
Freshman Jafet Perez had a big hand in helping the GCC Men's Soccer team to a 3-1 win over visiting Imperial Valley Monday Sept. 7 at Sartoris Field. He assisted on all of the goals for the Vaqs Monday, two in the first half on goals by Ricky Morales and a third help on a last minute shot by Ivis Gutierrez-Lopez to account for the final tally.
Sharp pass and good defense were the benchmark for success for GCC as goalie Kevin Portillo turned away just a pair of shots on goal allowing just one Imperial Valley score early the second half. The Vaqs meanwhile had nine shots on goal.
Glendale plays next at Norco Friday Sept. 13 at 4 pm and returns to Sartoris Field Tuesday Sept. 17 at 7 pm against Santa Barbara City College.
