HAIL TO THE GCC MEN AND WOMEN'S WSC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the men and women's cross country teams for defending its titles Friday Oct. 19 at the Western State Conference Championships at Bonelli Park in San Dimas. The women won by 11 points, 40-51, over second place Moorpark to claim their 14th straight title dating back to 2005 while the men captured its fourth straight title, 35-88 over second place Moorpark led by race winner Marcello Ramirez who clocked 20:56.33 over the four mile course. Both the men and the women's team scored five runners in the top 12 as Alberto Serrano was fifth for the men in 21:26.66, Akol Malong was eighth in 21:45.12, Antonio Arroyo was ninth in 21:55.23 and Spencer Geck was 12th in 22:11.56. For the women, Jennifer Perez-Cazarez was third over the 3.2 mile course in 18:37.2. Noemi Apreza was sixth in 19:01.8, Daisy Romero was eight in 19:23.2, Eileen Silva was 11th in 20:21.9 and Jazmin Negro was 12th in 20:29.1.

 Glendale competes next in the Southern California Finals Nov. 2 in Cerritos and Nov. 17 in the state finals in Fresno.
