            The Glendale College Cross Country team hosted the Western State Conference Preview race in Whittier as a precursor to next year, where they will host the Western State Conference Championships. Both the men and women teams took 1st place in their respective races. The women were the first to race, and they scored a total of 30 points over Ventura, who scored a total of 60 points. All five of the scoring runners finished in the top 10. Yajaira Calderon would take 2nd (18:33.8), Phoebe Forsyth would take 3rd (18:36.2), Jamie Levin took 6th (18:54.0), with Lydia Forsyth taking 9th (19:17.5) and Bianca Biel taking 10th (19:32.1) to round out the top five. Following those five would be Viviana Martin Del Campo who would finish 12th in a time of 20:01.0, and Rosa Silva who would go on to take 18th in a time of 20:46.3. The top seven runners would finish in the top 20.

            The men would also take 1st place scoring a total of 41 points over 2nd place Bakersfield who scored a total of 84 points. They were led by Marvin Guardado who took 2nd place in a time of 20:09.0 and 7th place finisher Kevin Keller who would run it in 20:26.4. Rounding out the top five would be Albert Serrano (20:35.5) who took 9th, Abraham Martinez (20:43.7) who took 11th, and Ameer Mohammed (20:45.4) who would come in with a 12th place finish. They were followed by Usiel Ulloa (21:05.2) who took 17th and Spencer Geck (21:16.6) with a 18th place finish. All five scoring runners would finish in the top 14. The Vaqueros have an upcoming bye week, and then they will travel to Riverside to compete at the UCR Highlander Invitational on October 19th.
