Vaquero Softball Pulls Out a Win Over Oxnard, 5-4, Tuesday Feb. 14

Freshman Madison Stilwell hit a hard shot down the third base line to score both the tying and go ahead runs in the bottom of the 6th inning at the Glendale Sports Complex Tuesday afternoon. Jordan Lousararian then struck out  two to start the top of the seventh while Aneyda Flores ended the game catching a line drive for the third and final out giving the Vaq's a 5-4 win over Oxnard, to improve the team record to 1-2.

Glendale (1-2) trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth when a leadoff walk by Aneyda Flores and another by Kristal Bendfeldt forced Oxnard to change pitchers and the next batter, Arlene Osnaya, singled through the 5/6 hole to load the bases for Brianna Garcia. Garcia drew a walk to force home a run making the contest 4-2 with bases loaded for Lexi Madrid.

After nine pitches Madrid, who had a stolen base earlier in the game, hit a grounder back to the pitcher who tossed the ball to home for the force out.

With bases still loaded and one out Sydney Jones stepped in and hit a grounder to first who bobbled the ball and went for the tag allowing a run to score.

Now 4-3 with runners at second and third freshman Madison Stilwell hit a shot down the third base line to drive in two runs to give the Vaq's the lead giving Jordan Lousararian an opportunity to win the game in the top of the seventh.

Lousararian threw seven innings facing 30 batters and gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, and allowed 4 walks while handing out 8 strikeouts. Two of the strikeouts came at the top of the seventh inning on the first two batters. The third batter for Oxnard got on on a grounder to short on a close play at first base. With the tying run on Jordan got the next batter to line out to third base to end the game.
