GCC holds on to beat Barstow 10-9; Lilia Montenegro has three hits (photo of Lilia please # 35 please)
Leading 10-4 in the 6th inning, the GCC Women's Softball team held on despite a furious rally by host Barstow College to beat the Vikings 10-9 Tuesday April 17 in a Western State Conference matchup.
Glendale had 13 hits on the day including three by Lillia Montenegro and two each by Madison Stillwell, Samantha Medrano, Sephanie Garner and Jessica Warren. Stillwell and Garner had doubles while Medrano tripled in support of starting pitcher Garner as the Lady Vaqs benefited from six Barstow errors.
GCC hosts Antelope Valley College Thursday April 19 at 2:30 pm at the Glendale Sports Complex and conclude the season Tuesday April 24 at home against Citrus College.
