Fall in three of its four games last week wasn't encouraging but what was a bright spot was four hard fought games and results the GCC Softball Team can build on as they prepare for the beginning of WSC South play in a few weeks.
GCC fell to Pasadena 6-5 Tuesday Feb. 11 and came from behind to beat Santa Monica 13-9 in a eight inning victory Feb. 13 and then fell to Grossmont in a doubleheader Saturday Feb. 15, 10-8 and 9-0.
In the win over Santa Monica which saw the Lady Vaqs score five runs in the top of the eighth to break and 8-8 tie , Zulhaley Villaverde pitch five inning of relief to help preserve the win and Triniti Akau had three hits including a double and Juli Souza had two double to pace the offense.
The Lady Vaqs return home to host Santa Monica Thursday Feb. 20 at 2:30 at the Glendale Sports Complex.
