Lady Vaqs fall to Antelope Valley in a nail biter, 63-62

 
The Glendale College Women's Basketball Team fought hard to erase a large first quarter deficit but fell to Antelope Valley College 63-62 in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday Feb. 17 in the Verdugo Gym.
 
GCC, 16-10 and 6-4 in the WSC East, trailed 21-8 in the first quarter and 31-21 at halftime before trailing just 41-37 heading into the last quarter. Both team battled in the fourth quarter and the Lady Vaqs trailed just 61-60 before Fiona Ferry hit two free throws with just seconds left on the clock for AV and then Cheyenne Jankulovski hit an uncontested layup for the finals score.
 
Jankulovski led Glendale with 12 points but struggled with nine turnovers. Deanna Gordillo had nine points on three three pointers and Angel Castro had eight points. Brooke Radcliff led GCC with sevon rebounds and five assists.
