Glendale wins 7th straight in 60-42 tourney win over Allan Hancock

A fast start and balanced scoring helped pace the GCC Women's Basketball Team to a 60-42 win over Allan Hancock College Wednesday in an opening round game of the Glendale College Holiday Tournament in the Verdugo Gym. With their seventh straight win, the Lady Vaqs improved to 9-1 and will face Riverside College in a championship semifinal Thursday at 5 pm.

Glendale started fast as they led Hancock 21-7 in the first quarter and 32-21 at the half and continued their fast pace with a 14-7 blitz in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 18 points at 46-28. The balanced scoring attack was led by Sylvia Vartazarian with 14 points with 11 rebounds and Chyenne Jankulovski added 13 points and seven assists as the GCC starters accounted for 37 points and the bench players kicked in with 23, led by Angel Castro with eight and five boards and Sarah Perez with six points. Marlene Salazar added six points and four boards.
