Glendale hangs on for fifth straight win, 67-63 over Victor Valley
After two relatively easy wins last week, the GCC Women's Basketball Team survived poor shooting and a tenacious Victor Valley team to score the last five points of the game to come away with a 67-63 win for it's fifth straight win to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Glendale trailed 63-62 with 1:25 remaining in the game but rallied behind sophomore Tess Oakley-Stilson who scored four of the team's last five points and led all scorers with 21 points on 4 of 10 from the field but a critical 12 of 16 from the free throw line. She also contributed six rebounds and three assists. Three other GCC players scored in double figures include Penelopi Trieu with 15 including three 3-pointers, and Gloria Binachi and Zoe Rouse with 10 points each. Point guard Vicky Oganyan had an all-around game with a game high 11 rebounds, and six assists along with eight points.
The Lady Vaqs continue non-conference play next week with a 5 pm Wednesday Nov. 27 at El Camino.
