GCC Lady Vaqs win Allan Hancock Tourney; Winning streak now at nine games

On a weekend where the GCC Women's Basketball Team had to traveled four hours to play three games at Allan Hancock College, the Lady Vaqs continued their impressive start  to the 2019-20 season by winning all three games to improve to 9-1 this season and run their winning streak to nine games. They were ranked 11th in Southern California in last week's CCCWBA poll.

Glendale started the tourney Thursday Dec. 5 with a 72-56 win over Santa Ana with Tess Oakley-Stilson leading the way with 15 points and seven rebounds and Vicky Oganyan adding 11 assists, six rebounds and five steals to an i8mpressive stat line. On Friday, GCC beat Orange Coast 66-42 with Oakley-Stilson scoring 16 points, Zoe Rouse adding nine points and six assists and Jade Aldana Chipping in with eight points and six rebounds off the bench. Gloria Binachi and Oganyan led the Lady Vaqs with eight rebounds each in the 53-38 win over Allan Hancock Saturday as Oakley-Stilson led them in scoring again with 15 points and Bianchi and Rouse added 10 each.

With the three wins, Head Coach Joel Weiss now has 65 career wins at GCC as he enters his fourth season on the bench.

GCC does not play this week but hosts the GCC Crossover Tourney Dec. 18-20.
