GCC WBB leads from start to finish to beat Santa Monica College 81-39 for eighth straight win Jan. 10
In defense of four consecutive WSC South Titles, the GCC WBB Team cruised to an 81-39 win over visiting Santa Monica College at home Jan. 10 in the conference opener for both teams. The Lady Vaqs started the game leading 14-0 and led by as many as 44 points late in the game.
 
The Lady Vaqs improved to 13-2 and 1-0 with the win and were led in scoring by Malia Ulery with 20 points including six of nine 3-pointers and added four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kaitlynn Key had 12 points off the bench as well as eight rebounds and Cherilyn Legaspi had 10 points in relief. Starter Osanna Tirityan had a game high nine rebounds, 11 points and three assists.
 
Now ranked No. 5 in Southern California and No. 8 in the state, the Lady Vaqs continued conference play at 5 pm Saturday Jan. 13 at West L.A. College.
