Last second basket from Patil Yaacoubian helps send GCC WBB into third round of So, Cal Regiuonal Playoffs with 54-51 win over Pasadena City College March 2
The last 10 seconds of a basketball game can not only determine the outcome of a game but sometimes a season as was the case Saturday March 2 in the game between host Glendale College and visiting Pasadena City College, But a 3-pointrer by Patil Yaacoubian with 10.8 seconds left was that difference in the GCC Women's Basketball Team's 54-51 win over the visiting Lancers in a second round Southern California Regional Playoff game.

The win sets up a third-round home clash between the No., 3 seeded Lady Vaqueros and No. 6 Palomar College March 9 in the Verdugo Gym. GCC is 27-2 this season and has won 22 straight games and Palomar is 24-5.

Against Pasadena, GCC was seemingly in control of the game as they led 30-17at halftime and led by as many as 15 in the third quarter. But a furious Pasadena rally cut that advantage to 41-34 after three quarters until the Lancers tied the game at 51-51 with 40.6 second left before Yaacoubian's three pointer and then a missed PCC shot sealed the win for the Lady Vaqs.

Paola Gorgeiz led GCC in scoring with 15 points and tallied eight rebounds as Glendale won the battle of the boards, 36-28. Malia Ulery and Yaacoubian had 10 points each and Evelyn Birau and Osanna Tirityan had 10 rebounds each with Tirityan also contributing seven points and five assists.
