GCC beats Valley 2-1 with pair of second half goals
Tied 0-0 in the second half, the GCC Women's Soccer team rallied behind a pair of goals by Haley Tsarofski and Adrianna Sarukhanyan to help the Lady Vaqs beat visiting L.A. Valley College 2-1 Tuesday night at Sartoris Field. The win for GCC helped them improved to 8-3-2 overall and 2-2 in WSC play while Valley fell to 10-5-1 and 2-2 in conference.
 
Both teams played a very even first half before Tsarofski scored her 16th goal of the season near the just past the Monarchs goalie on an assist by Sarina Badikian. Minutes later, Sarukhanyan scored on a beautiful corner kick to make it 2-0. Glendale goalie Joceline Castaneda-Tapia turned away shot after shot from Valley before the visitors scored with just minutes left in the game.
 
Glendale continues its march towards a possible playoff berth with a home game Friday Oct. 26 vs conference leader L.A. Pierce at 5 pm at Sartoris Field. Pierce is in the top spot with a 4-0 record and 11-1-4 overall and beat the Lady Vaqs 7-0 on Oct. 9.
