Several Vaqs Earn All-America Honors
The women as a team took sixth place with 41 points and the men finished 25th with eight points. The top six finishers for Glendale in the state meet earned All-American honors with Graham-Zamudio earning three with her three first place finishes. Lilia Asserian earned All-American honors with a third place finish in the 800 meters and Elizabeth Nelson took fourth in the 1500 meters to earn the honor. For the men, Edwardo Vasquez and Issac Diosdado were both named All-American with fifth place finishes in the 1500 and 5000 meters.

History was made at the State Championships as GCC track star Grace Graham-Zamudio won three titles at the state track & field championships at San Mateo College. Grace won the 10,000 meters Friday and came back Saturday to win the 1500 and 5000 meters in events run less than two hours apart. The three state titles is an unprecedented feat for GCC track, surpassing the two state titles that Joe Staub won in the shot put and the discus at the 1980 state meet.
