GCC winning streak grows to eight straight after blowout wins over Antelope Valley, 19-5 and 12-0; Lucas Sakay hits for the cycle

The hit parade continues for the GCC Baseball Team after a pair of wins this week over Antelope Valley College, 19-5 on Tuesday March 28 and 12-0 on Thursday March 28. With the wins the Vaqs improved to 18-8 overall, 9-1 in WSC East play including eight straight wins and they hold a two game advantage over Citrus College in conference.

While scoring 31 runs over two games is impressive enough, pounding out 31 hits to match the scoring output shows that Glendale is getting it done at the plate and on the mound as the opposition  has only been able to muster five runs and 17 hits in the two game span. In the 19-5 win Tuesday, Three Vaqs had four hits each as Trent MacKinney, Michael Choi and Lucas Sakay hit the mark with Sakay hitting for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run to give him four RBI on the day.  Christian Muro, Alex Mills and Casey Slattery all homered for Glendale with Brandon Lewis hitting two double and Slattery also hitting a two bagger and Sean Harris adding a triple.

Starter Gerardo Ramirez got the pitching win with seven strong innings of work striking out eight and Luke Hempel finished up with his two innings of work.

Glendale finishes of the series at Antelope Valley Saturday March 30 at 1 pm before starting a three game series next week against College of the Canyons, Tuesday April 2 at home at Stengel Field at 2:30 pm,  at Canyons Thursday April 4 at 2:30 pm and home Saturday April 6 vs Canyons at 1 pm at Stengel Field.
