Glendale blasts Canyons 24-3; Maintains two game lead in WSC East

The numbers from Glendale's 24-3 win over College of the Canyons Tuesday April 2 at Stengel Field are startling. It was the fourth time this year that the Vaqueros scored 20 or more runs as they improved to 10-2 in the WSC East and 19-9 overall.

They raked 24 hits all over the field with 11 players getting at least one base knock, three getting four hits each including Trent MacKinney, Christian Muro and Sammy Martinez, who also homered and drove in four runs. Brandon Lewis only had one hit but drove in five runs in support of starting pitcher Gerardo Ramirez who got the win in his seven innings of work and greatly benefiting from 12 Canyons errors while striking out nine and allowing just five hits. Kevin Holcomb and Luke Hempel finish up for the Vaqs who are ranked No. 10 in the CCCBCA Southern California rankings.

Glendale plays at Canyons Thursday April 4 and concludes the series Saturday April 6 at 1 pm at Stengel Field.
