GCC splits first two games in 2020 season; Alex Mills has three hits and four RBI
The GCC Baseball Team struck for nine runs on 11 hits Friday to open up the 2020 season with a 9-2 home win over visiting East L.A. College at Stengel Field. Tobias Plotkin got the win in relief of starter Reece Matheisen who pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing one run on one hits and struck out three. Glendale fell to Cerritos 6-5 Saturday.
Sophomore Alex Mills drove in three runs in the win Friday with a pair of doubles, the second clearing the bases for the Vaqs in the eighth inning and he added a triple in Saturday's loss. Trent MacKinney, Aaron Suval and Christian Muro all had two hits Friday and Casey Slattery had a solo homer Saturday.
Glendale hits the road this week with three road game at Grossmont Tuesday Jan. 28, At Oxnard Thursday Jan. 30 and at Palomar Friday Jan. 31. All games start at 2 pm.
