GCC Baseball wins 17th straight game 8-6 over Orange Coast College April 13, now 27-5.

The 2022 GCC Baseball team must be having some kind of season to be ranked No. 2 in Southern California and No. 3 in the state when they win without playing its best as they did on the road against Orange Coast College April 13. But style points notwithstanding, the Vaqs were good enough to come away with an 8-6 non-conference victory for its 17ths straight win to improve to 27-5 this season.

Once again, they did lead for most of the game, but OCC pushed across three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at six all before Isaiah Velazco's two run single in the top of the ninth gave the Vaqs their margin of victory. Velazco had three hits for Glendale and a double as did Adrian Gonzalez and Hans Seo and Kenji Pallares had two hits each. Brandon Nguyen had a solo homer for GCC. Six pitchers took the mound for Glendale with Aaron Treloar getting the win and Aaron Suval the save with scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth.

Glendale hosts L.A. Pierce College Friday April 15 at 1 pm at Stengel Field to complete non-conference play this week before hosting WSC South rival L.A. Valley College next week in a three-game series with an opportunity to clinch the conference title with just one win. GCC is 15-0 and leads Valley by six games.
