When push came to shove in the battle for the American Division Metro League Championship Saturday Nov. 5 at Glendale College, the host Vaqueros had plenty of push through three quarters but could not shove the visiting Owls aside in the 42-21 defeat.

Now 3-1 in league play and 5-4 overall, the Vaqs trailed 7-0 and 14-7 early before tying the game at 14 all in the first quarter and 21 all in the third quarter only to see Citrus, 4-0 and 9-0, score three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the final margin of victory.

Sophomore quarterback Nick Garcia passed for two touchdowns on 25 completions in 45 attempts and 312 yards. Artis Cole caught four passes for 96 yards and Nick Johnson had six catches for 51 yards. Jahrique Lowe had two grabs for 41 yards and one touchdown and Carson Cardenaz had two catches for 14 yards and one touchdown. Giorgio Spiropoulos also had one rushing touchdown. Defensively, Sebastian DeLeon had eight tackles, four solo, Enrique Henry Diaz had seven tackles, three solo, and Asa Roberson had five solo tackles and intercepted a pass.

Glendale concludes its regular season Saturday Nov. 12 on the road against Santa Ana College at 6 pm.
