Forty minutes of play wasn't enough to determine a winner of the Glendale and Pasadena men's basketball match up Wednesday at GCC in the Verdugo Gym, but the five minutes of overtime proved to be pivotal as the visiting Lancers held on to beat the Vaqueros 95-90. Glendale fell to 1-4 with the loss while Pasadena improved to 5-3.

Tied at 79 all at the end of regulation, the visiting Lancers outscored the Vaqueros 16-11 in the extra five minute stanza thanks in part to four out of four free throws and a basket made by Chris Blount who finished with 16 points to help seal the win. The loss for Glendale overshadowed a tremendous performance by sophomore wing Andre Banton who had 36 points including 8 of 16 from the field, four of six 3-pointers and 16 of 19 free throws. Banton scored seven points for GCC in overtime including four free throws and a three pointer but it wasn't enough.

Tre'j Floyd and Isaac Etter had 13 points each for Glendale and Eric Ting added 12 in a tight game that saw the score tied 10 times and the lead change hands 18 times. Terrick Williams led the Vaqs with eight rebounds and Steven Hubbell had six assists.

Glendale plays next against L.A. Pierce College in the West L.A. Tournament Thursday Nov. 29 at 3 pm.
