Ryan Oliver joins the Glendale College Men’s Basketball staff as a first-year assistant coach. Oliver comes with a lot of experience as a former Division I and professional basketball player.

Oliver played four years of varsity basketball. He played two years at Loyola High School from 2008-2010. He was a starter for the program and earned huge recognition: Mission League All-League, McDonald’s All-America Nominee. Oliver finished his high school career at Northfield Mount Hermon (MA) and help lead the team to its first ever NEPSAC AAA championship.

Oliver played Division I basketball at Siena College in Loudonville, NY. As a sophomore he helped lead the team to its first ever postseason national championship in school history (College Basketball Invitational, 2014). 

Oliver took his talents to Ireland where he played professional basketball. He averaged 18ppg, 6rpg for Ulster Elks BC and help lead team to an All-Ireland Final. In his second season, he averaged 18ppg and 4rpg for Belfast Star BC.

He began his coaching career as a volunteer coach for Ulster University (Ireland). He served as the director of player development. He later transitioned to a new role as a boys varsity assistant coach at St. Pius x St. Matthias High School in California, where he helped orchestrate the school’s first ever winning season.

Oliver achieved his bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Siena College in 2016 and he’s currently pursuing his master’s degree in Education and Coaching.
