Playing before an exuberant crowd on a beautiful night at Sartoris Field, the GCC Men's Soccer team beat visiting L.A. Harbor College 3-0 to improve to 2-0 this season.

First half goals by John Crispi and Vincent Sanchez, who assisted on the goal by Crispi, gave the Vaqueros a 2-0 halftime advantage. A strong defensive effort by the Vaqs allowed only two Harbor shots in the first half as goalkeeper Mario Trujillo had 11 saves in the game to register the shutout.

"Our win Tuesday against LA Harbor was a nice redemption moment for our sophomore players. In 2021 we lost to Harbor 5-0 away and that stung. Before this game we discussed that our home turf is real estate that we have to fight to claim. The team staked their claim with a 3-0 win at home. I'm very proud of the guys'', said GCC Head Coach Laura Matsumoto. " We took a physical beating as Harbor put on a high press to try to score. Our keeper, Mario Trujillo, had a stellar game making 11+ saves. Coach Victor Carrera summed it up perfectly, "…we had to absorb a huge amount of pressure" to secure the win. It's very early in the season, but I am looking forward to seeing how this year's talented team can grow and rise to their potential."

Brandon Alvarez scored near the end of the second half to make it 3-0 as Glendale totaled 16 shots against Harbor and put pressure on the defensive secondary all night. Glendale hosts Imperial Valley College Friday, Sept. 2 at 5 pm at Sartoris Field.
