The Track & Field team competed in the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break classic this past weekend. On the men's side, Shannon Turner continued improving his 800m finishing in a time of 1:57.81. Sheldon Watanabe (2:03.20) also took part in the 800m race. Austin Kuromi (4:03.45), Julius Largaespada (4:04.13), Kevin Vasquez (4:15.07), Nick Serrano and (4:17.40) competed in the 1500m. The 5000m race had four Vaqueros including Jorge Ramirez (15:44.17), Roberto Morales (15:44.90), Abdiel Quero (16:03.41), and Morgan Faunce (16:29.47). Luis Juarez ran another solid PR in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:57.69 to put him 4th in the state. In the field events, Joziah Hernandez cleared 10'10" in the pole vault. In the shot put, Gerrardo Becerra (41'3.25") had a PR with Kevin Gomez (40'0") getting a toss in not far from his PR. Becerra also came close to a PR in the discus with a throw of 131'9". In the hammer, Kevin Gomez had a PR with a throw of 149'8", putting him 6th in the state. Lincoln Guerrero also competed in the hammer, also getting a PR throwing 113'10". Taking part in the javelin were Edward Jones (128'11") and Julio Aguayo (128'0").

On the women's side, Xinix Perla (2:40.78) was the only one to take part in the 800m race. In the 1500m, Karla Sanchez came across in a time of 5:01.59. The 5000m had four Vaqueros including Aleksandra Martinez (19:28.13), Destiny Lopez (19:48.45), Jordan Guzman (21:17.04), and Norma Martinez (21:53.89). Finally, Vanessa Portillo got a toss of 103'0" in the javelin. The team will travel to Orange Coast College on Friday the 18th to take part in the Orange Coast Classic.
