GCC men's cross country sophomore Raymond Lopez wins

GCC men's cross country sophomore Raymond Lopez won his fourth race this year at Friday's Golden West Invitational while Angelica Salas won her third race of the year and her second in the last two weeks. The Glendale men's team was second behind Mt. SAC, 50-66, and the women's team was third behind Mt. SAC and Riverside by just nine points, 45-46-54. (new graph) For the Men, Lopez clocked 21:48.6 over the four-mile course to take first place honors. Paulo Vazquez was the second GCC finisher in 11th place in 22:45.5. Carlos Rivera was 13th in 22:48.9, Chris Cassarrubia was 19th in 22:56.2 and Philp Thomas was 22nd in 22:58.5. (new graph) In the women's race, Salas clocked 18:58.7 over the 5K course and won by almost a minute. Jennifer Cazares was sixth over all in 20:26.7, Fiona Faulkner was 13th in 21:00.0, Nona Boyajyan was 16th in 21:09.2 and Genesis Siam-Alvarez was 18th in 21:22.0.
