GCC Men and Women's teams each take second place in WSC Preview Meet Sept. 30

      The Vaqueros competed at the Western State Conference Preview race this past Friday. The men took second place behind Bakersfield, scoring a total of 51 poi      nts. Julius Largaespada led the way taking second place in a time of 21:38. He was followed by Jorge Ramirez (22:48) and Kevin Vasquez (22:51), who finished ninth and 10th place, respectively. Abdiel Quero took 14th place in a time of 23:25 and Nicolas Diconti took 18th place in a time of 23:41, rounding out the five scoring runners. Jeremiah Galloway (24:49), Brandon Rivas-Gramajo (25:19), Austin Kuromi (25:28), and Alexsander Hernandez-Morales (26:37) came across the finish line in 29th, 34th, 38th, and 53rd places, respectively.

      The women also went on to take second place behind Bakersfield, scoring a total of 41 points. They were led by Samantha Medrano who took fifth place in a time of 19:31, with Aleksandra Martinez coming in ninth place in a time of 19:36. They were followed by Carina Langley who took 12th in a time of 20:04, Destiny Lopez who took 18th in a time of 20:48, and Norma Martinez who came across in 25th place in a time of 21:53 rounding out the top five runners. Daniela Ponce-Barban came across the finish line in 45th place in a time of 27:52. The team will have a bye week, and then travel to Mt. SAC on Friday the 14th to race in the Mt. SAC Invitational.
