GCC Softball Team starts 2022 season with single win in Dave "Hawk'' Wilder Tournament

The Glendale College Women's Softball Team started the 2022 season off with a victory in their season opener against Cerro Coso Friday at the Glendale Sports Complex but it went downhill from there in the Dave "Hawk'' Wilder Tournament. The Lady Vaqs beat Cerro Coso 6-2 Friday Jan. 28 but fell to Fullerton 7-3 in the second game of the day and lost to Sacramento City 11-4 and East Los Angeles 8-2 in two games Saturday Jan. 29.
 
In the win over Cerro Coso Friday, Rachelle Garcia stood out for the Lady Vaqs on the mound and with the bat as she had had two hits and scored two runs and got the win as the starting pitcher and struck out three. Triniti Akau also had two hits for GCC including a double and Tori Forsberg got the pitching save with seven strikeouts in her four innings on the mound.
