GCC win's 15th straight, 57-46 over L.A. Valley

In defense of its 2019 WSC South Title, the GCC Lady Vaqs were hard pressed to stay unbeaten in conference but beat West L.A. 71-69 Wednesday Jan. 8 and beat L.A. Valley 57-46 Saturday Jan. 11 to improve to 15-1 overall and 2-0 in the WSC South. 

Sophomore Tess Oakley-Stilson led the Lady Vaqs in scoring in both games with 21 against West and 15 against the visiting Monarchs as Glendale held firm with at least a 10-point lead for most of the game. Penelopi Trieu added 15 in the win over Valley and Gloria Bianchi added 12 and seven boards. Vicky Oganyan had  a game high eight rebounds and, six points and three assists. 

Last week achieved its highest rank in school history with a No. 4 ranking in Southern California and  No. 6 mark in the state.  The Lady Vaqs hit the road next week for two conference games, playing at Bakersfield at 5 pm on Jan. 15 and at Canyons Jan. 18 at 3 pm at Master's College.
