Joey Craig and Kenji Pallares lead GCC to 10-7 win over Ventura Feb. 5; Vaqs 6-1 this season
Two weeks into the 2022 season, the GCC Baseball Team is making believers out of every team they face and especially themselves. The Vaqs beat visiting Ventura 10-7 Saturday, the second time this week they have beaten the Pirates after beating them 10-7 Thursday Feb. 3. They also beat Oxnard 8-2 Feb. 1 and fell to Palomar 7-3 Friday Feb. 4 to go 3-1 this week and are 6-1 overall.
Joey Craig got the ball rolling for the Vaqs with a two-run homer in the first inning to bring home Brandon Nguyen, who singled to open the game for GCC. Craig had three hits, scored three runs and had three RBI on the day and Nguyen added two hits including a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. Hans Seo had a three-run homer in the eighth inning to make the score 10-2 and Kenji Pallares got his second win of the year with five innings pitched and five strikeouts and scattered six hits.
Glendale hosts Oxnard Tuesday Feb. 8 at 2 pm at Stengel Field and travels to face Saddleback Friday Feb. 11 at 3 pm.
