GCC Baseball wins fifth straight game over Ventura College, 21-8 Feb. 18; Brandon Nguyen had four hits and five RBI
The GCC Baseball Team won three games last week to improve to 7-3 this season, punctuated by a 21-8 win over visiting Ventura College Saturday Feb. 18 at Stengel Field. Glendale has won five straight games including an 11-1 win Tuesday Feb. 14 at Mt. SAC, a 9-4 win at Fullerton College Feb. 17 but the wins also showcased some impressive statistics for the week:
- The Vaqs scored 41 runs in three games.
- They had 44 hits including 20 in the win over Ventura.
- Brandon Nguyen hit GCC's second homer of the season Saturday, one of his three runs scored as well as four hits and five RBI.
- Seven GCC hitters had two or more hits Saturday, and six had extra base hits.
- Boon Fay was the winning pitcher Friday at Fullerton and is 2-0 with 30 strikeouts in 17 innings with a 1.06 ERA.
Glendale continues non-conference play this week with a 1 pm game at Pa;lomar College Tuesday Feb. 21 and has a home and away series with Oxnard College, Wednesday Feb.22 at 2 pm at Stengel Field and Friday Feb. 24 at Oxnard at 2 pm.
