GCC Baseball sweeps three games against L.A. Mission College last week to open two game lead in WSC South; now 11-1 in conference and 21-8 overall

After suffering its first loss in WSC South play March 25 against Bakersfield, the GCC Baseball Team quickly rebounded with a three-game sweep over L.A. Mission College to improve to 11-1 in conference play and 21-8 overall. Glendale won 6-5 on Tuesday March 28, 15-0 on Thursday March 30 and 9-2 on Saturday April 1.

Starting pitcher Julain Jaramillo pitched five solid innings to get the win and struck out five and Chris Lozano and Maximo Newhart pitched two innings each to preserve the victory. Five players had two hits each for Glendale with Joey Craig, Brnadon Nguyen, Jackson Benattar, Nick Sutherin and Ricky Perez pacing the offense with Craig and Perez hitting two-run homers.

Glendale, ranked No. 9 in the CCCBCA South poll, plays a pair of non-conference games this week, at Santa Barbara City College at 2:30 pm Tuesday April 4 and at El Camino College at 2:00 pm Thursday August 6. They return to WSC South play Tuesday April 11 at 2:30 pm at Citrus College.
