The wins have been few and far between for the GCC Men's Soccer Team during the 2021 season but the effort has always been there as the 3-1 victory against Citrus College showed Tuesday, October 26 on the Owls' home field. The victory improved Glendale's record to 3-7-5 overall and 1-2-1 in WSC play with four games left in the season.

It was several weeks ago on September 7 that the Vaqs registered their last win, a 3-2 victory at home against Pasadena City College to make its record 2-1 on the young season but what followed was a string of tough losses and five ties, several of which had Glendale leading in the late stages of the game and could have resulted in victories.

But all of that was not evident against Citrus as GCC led wire to wire aided by an early goal at the 3:10 mark of the first half on a goal by Danny Martinez with an assist by David Ganjian that gave them a 1-0 lead they would not relinquish. A second goal was scored at the 43:54 mark by Angel Onate with an assist by Jafet Perez that made it 2-0, and a third goal was credited to Glendale when it hit the nets aided by a Citrus defender at the 75:39 mark to make the final score 3-0. Goalie Hrak Tahmassian allowed just one goal for Citrus late in the game and registered five saves to aid in the victory.

GCC end the season with four WSC games, Friday, October 29 at Antelope Valley at 4 p.m.; Tuesday, November 2 at home against Canyons at 5 p.m.; Friday, November 5 against Bakersfield at 3 p.m. and the season finale Friday, November 12 at 3 p.m. against Citrus. All home games are at Sartoris Field.
