GCC and Antelope Valley battle to a 3-3 tie in WSC match Oct. 13
For the past eight games, the GCC Men's Soccer teams have been searching for the formula that saw them start the 2023 season with five straight wins and a high state ranking. Against visiting Antelope Valley College on Friday Oct. 13, the Vaqs were trailing 2-0 after the first half but during a hectic nine-minute span at the beginning of the second half, Glendale scored three goals before the visitors got one late for a 3-3 tie and seemed to find a little of what had been missing.

Now 5-7-2 overall and 0-1-1 in WSC play, J.P. Crispi scored for GCC at the 60:11 mark on an assist by Malkoon Malkoon to make it 2-1 and then Monte Almasi scored less than two minutes later on a pass by Derik Stepanians to make it 2-2 at the 61:59 mark. Stepanians then gave GCC the lead at 68:37 on a pass by Vincente Sanches for his 10th goal of the year to make it 3-2 Vaqs until the late goal by the Marauders made the final score 3-3.

In WSC play this week, Glendale hosts L. A. Pierce College at 5:30 pm Tuesday Oct. 17 and Bakersfield College at 4 pm Friday Oct. 20 with both games at Sartoris Field.
