GCC Women's Softball starts fast to beat San Bernardino Valley College 6-3 March 4
A two-run triple by Jayleen Piedra in the first inning helped the GCC Women's Softball Team take a quick 3-0 lead to pace the Lady Vaqs to a 6-3 non-conference win over visiting San Bernardino Valley College Saturday March 4 in a home contest at the Glendale Sports Complex.
Now 5-11-1, Glendale was the beneficiary of a three run first inning and a three-run second that held up thanks to a a good defensive effort and the solid pitching of starter Sierra Ruvalcaba, who improved to 5-6 with the complete game victory. Mya Chacon joined Piedra with two hits as well as Lilly Brito as Piedra had three RBI on the day and Chacon also scored a pair of runs.
The Lady Vaqs have a busy week of games as they play at Citrus College Monday March 6 at 2:30 pm, host Bakersfield at 2:30 pm Tuesday March 7, host Orange Coast College Thursday March 9 at 3 pm and play at Chaffey College Saturday March 11 at noon.
