GCC Softball rallies for 6-4 win over Canyons April 11; improves to 16-13 overall and 5-4 in WSC play
In a season of improvement for the GCC Softball Team, the Lady Vaqs rallied from a 4-1 fourth inning deficit against College of the Canyons to beat the visitors 6-4 April 11 at the Glendale Sports Complex. The win gives Glendale a 5-4 WSC South mark and are 16-13 overall.

"Excellent team win today. Even more gratifying to see us play with such resolve, after a disappointing performance on Tuesday. Great to see Torii Forsberg pitch so well and chalk up her 13th win of the season on her 23rd birthday, said GCC Head Coach Sal Pizzo. But at the end of the day, it was the little things that we executed as a team, both offensively and defensively, that allowed us to secure the victory."

Torii Forsberg was a force on the mound and at the plate as her complete game win was her 13th of the season and she drove home a run in the fourth inning with a bases loaded walk, one of her four times she walked, to make the score 4-3. Mya Chacon had two hits Thursday and drove in a run in the fourth to make it 4-2 and had two RBI. Natasha Cohen, Angelica Saldana, Savannah Alvarez and Tati Pisa all had hits for GCC.

Glendale completes the week of play Saturday April 13 with a doubleheader at Grossmont College at noon and 2 pm.
