GCC Softball improves to 17-14 after splitting doubleheader at Grossmont College April 13
For the second time in the same week, the GCC Softball Team rallied for victory as they scored two runs in the seventh inning to beat Grossmont College 7-6 in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader on the road to improve to 17-14 this season. They dropped the first game 1-0.
 
Sophomores Mya Chacon and Torii Forsberg played huge roles for the Lady Vaqs as their hitting and pitching prowess was critical for Glendale. Chacon started on the mound and pitched four innings and also had two hits at the plate including a triple and scored once. Forsberg pitched the last three innings to get the win and allowed just one unearned run in the fifth and struck out three including the final batter of the game with the game tying run on second base and she had two hits including a double and home run and two RBI. Lily Brito had two hits including a double and Natash Cohen also had two hits. Emma Mendoza had two hits and three RBI including the game tying single in the seventh inning with two strikes on her and two outs in the game.
 
Glendale continues WSC South play this week on the road, at L.A. Mission Tuesday April 16 and at L.A. Valley Thursday April 18 with both games starting at 2:30 pm.
