GCC WBB improves to 2-0 in WSC with 66-35 win over West L.A. Jan. 13; Now 14-2 after ninth straight win
The challenge of repeating as WSC South champs is daunting in the early stages of conference play in 2024 but the GCC Women's Basketball Team seems up for it in the early stages of conference play as they beat West L.A. College on the road Jan. 13. 66-35. The win was the ninth straight for the Lady Vaqs who are now 2-0 in WSC play and 14-2 overall.
 
Sophomore Paola Gorgeiz led the way with 20 points and 16 points and 14 rebounds, five off the offensive glass. Starter Evelyn Birau added 12 points and Cherilyn Legaspi added 11 points off the bench and hit three 3-pointers.  Osanna Tiriityan had nine rebounds and Malia Ulery added five rebounds and four assists.
 
Glendale continues WSC play this week with two WSC games, Wednesday Jan. 17 against L.A. Valley College at 7 pm and against Bakersfield College Saturday Jan. 20 at 3 pm. Both games are in the Verdugo Gym.
