Call it irony or something else but Glendale Community College will have an opportunity to extend its dominance in recent years as Western State Conference Champions in Men and Women's Cross Country in a meet they are hosting Friday, October, 22 at Lake Legg Park in El Monte. The men's race starts at 1 pm and the women start at 2 pm.

Long considered one of the best running programs in the state, the teams coached by Eddie Lopez are highly ranked in the state and Southern California once again this year. The women, who are ranked No. 3 in the state's California Community College Track Coaches Association poll from Oct. 4 and are ranked No. 2 in Southern California and have won 15 consecutive WSC Titles since 2005 and the men are ranked No. 7 in the state and No. 6 in Southern California in that same CCCTCA poll and have won four straight WSC team titles since 2016.

The 2021 Cross Country season concludes with two meets on the schedule after this week, the Southern California Championships Friday November 5 and the State Championships November 19.
