The GCC women's Cross Country competed at the WSC Championships this past Friday at Arroyo Vista Park in Moorpark. The women captured their 17th straight conference title, scoring a total of 50 points. Samantha Medrano led the way taking second place with a time of 18:51, only 6 seconds away from the conference champion. Destiny Lopez followed with a ninth place finish in a time of 19:42, with Aleksandra Martinez immediately following Lopez with a 10th place finish in a time of 19:51. Rounding out the scoring runners was Carina Langley who took 15th in a time of 20:32 and Norma Martinez who finished 24th in a time of 21:48. Daniela Ponce-Barban took 44th place with another PR time of 25:31.

 

The men took third place as a team, scoring a total of 70 points. Leading the way was Nicolas Diconti who ran a 20:59 for a ninth-place finish. Jorge Ramirez followed with a 13th place finish in a time of 21:16, while Abdiel Quero came across in 21:25.6 for a 14th place finish. Austin Kuromi (21:25.9) immediately followed Quero with a 15th place finish. Rounding out the five scoring runners was Jeremiah Galloway who took 20th place in a time of 21:40. Kevin Vasquez came across in 25th place in a time of 21:54, while Brandon Rivas-Gramajo (23:45) crossed the finish line in 48th place. Finally, Alexsander Hernandez-Morales took 56th place in a time of 24:06. The team will have a bye week and will then travel up to Bakersfield for the Southern California Championships on Friday, November 4.
