GCC baseball shuts out Chaffey 9-0; Alex Laureano has three hits and four RBIFebruary 27, 2022Three GCC pitchers combined for the five-hit shutout win over visiting Chaffey College Thursday Feb. 25 at Stengel Field as the Vaqs improved to 10-3 this season. Starter Kenji Pallares got the win top improved to 3-1 and struck out five in his six innings of work and allowed just three hits. Tobias Plotkin struck out four in the two innings he pitched, and Aaron Cunningham had two punch outs in a flawless ninth inning. With GCC leading 1-0 in the second inning, Hans Seo hit a grand slam homer to increase the lead to 5-0 and the Vaqs rolled to their 10th win in 13 starts this season. Catcher Alex Laureano had three hits and four RBI on the day including a two-run double in the eighth inning and Joey Craig and Alex Mills had two hits each. Glendale concludes non-conference play with three games next week starting Tuesday March 1 at Santa Ana at 2 pm. The home games Thursday March 3 against Santa Ana and Friday March 4 against Fullerton both start at 2 pm at Stengel Field.
